Washington State Senate Candidates from Legislative District 19 will speak in an online forum to be held Wednesday, July 15th from 7 to 8pm. Incumbent Democrat Dean Takko and Republican challengers Wes Cormier and Jeff Wilson are scheduled to appear. The forum can be accessed via Zoom or YouTube.

A non-partisan ad-hoc,citizens group Wahkiakum R and D Team, is producing the forum. With large public gatherings currently on hold, the group moved ahead with forums held online, to enable candidates to speak directly to voters. Their first effort with Wahkiakum County Commission candidates went successfully online and on time.

Team member Deborah Lincoln says the intention is to maintain as much communication as possible between candidates and voters.

“What also makes it so successful, I believe is that it is bi-partisan, and we have two Democrats and two Republicans working on this, and we have a great team. We’ve always wanted to do bipartisan, and we really want to get as much information out about the candidates, and to the candidates we want to get as much information through the questions. We feel like its so important, and this is the only way, was doing it YouTube, that we could do it.”

Lincoln said to avoid duplication and to help keep to time, that questions must be submitted in advance by email. The email address is Wahkiakum R D team at gmail dot com.

Information on accessing the forum through YouTube or Zoom can be found on our website: coast radio dot org, under local news.

Legislative District 19 runs roughly from Aberdeen to Longview, encompasing the southern portion of Grays Harbor County, southwest Lewis County, the western third of Cowlitz County, and all of Pacific and Wahkiakum Counties.

Wahkiakum R and D Team will host a virtual debate for LD 19 senate candidates: Dean Takko (D), Wes Cormier (R), and Jeff Wilson(R) on July 15, 2020 7-8 pm.

Voters from the 5 counties in LD 19 can attend this virtual debate.
