LOCAL NEWS: Pacific Power $45K grant will fund Astoria electric car charging stations
Lovely! A story that’s not about the coronavirus! A boost for electric car owners is headed for Astoria. Joanne Rideout reports.
Pacific Power will award the City of Astoria a $45,000 grant to install two electric vehicle charging stations at the Astoria Aquatic Center along Exchange Street at 20th St. The location was chosen because the center is a community hub and provides amenities for out-of-town visitors.
Motorists will be required to pay for using the stations, off-setting increased electrical costs to the Aquatic Center facility. All work related to the grant will be overseen and managed by Parks Department staff. The installation is scheduled to be complete by February 2021.
